Puppy news!
Aida (Exclamation Rose Kiss) was bred to Moriz (Candida's Moody Blues) this spring. We didn't want to announce it too early, because the last time we tried this mating, we didn't get a single puppy. But we were hopeful and wanted to try again, and this time we had more luck. Aida had her ultrasound today, and we are definitely expecting at least four puppies in late July!

Swimming
I took my dogs to the lake again. This time Aida almost swam all on her own, and gladly ran into the water after her ball. Moriz, on the other hand, only came near the water following a cookie, and even then wouldn't go very deep. After getting themselves wet, the dogs took turns rolling in the sand...

Latvia shows
Last weekend we traveled to Riga, Latvia for two international shows with Lumi (Candida's October Opal) and Moriz (Candida's Moody Blues) and came home with great results!
On Saturday Moriz was shown under judge Linda Volarikova from Slovakia, was placed 2nd best male, got a CAC, became Latvian Champion, and got a reserve CACIB, which will be confirmed to a CACIB later.
Judging Akitas on Saturday was Kornelija Butrimova from Lithuania. Lumi was placed 2nd best female, also received a CAC and thus became Latvian Champion, and got a reserve CACIB.
On Sunday Moriz wasn't shown at all, but Lumi was shown under judge Janiki Steinbock from Israel. Our judge seemed to really like Lumi, as she was placed Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex being Etsuo Go From Hachimantai, and received a CACIB.
Thanks to Elina Kempas for the pictures!

Lithuania shows
Last weekend we made a road trip to Vilnius, Lithuania for the Lithuanian Winner and Vilnius Cup shows with Lumi (Candida's October Opal), Moriz (Candida's Moody Blues) and Aida (Exclamation Rose Kiss).
On Saturday Moriz was placed 2nd best male and earned a reserve-CACIB under judge Leila Kärkäs from Finland. He lost the CACIB to Russian Moonlight Show Magic Moment, who (fortunately for us) is already an International Champion, so Moriz actually got his very first CACIB. Aida was placed 4th best female.
Lumi was shown under judge Matti Tuominen, also from Finland, and was chosen best female, BOS, earned a CACIB and the Lithuanian Winner title, and therefore also became a Lithuanian Champion!
On Sunday judging Akitas was Denis Kuzelj from Bulgaria. Lumi lost best female to Lithuanian Okimi Megami Go Sveika, but since she was shown in junior class, Lumi once again got a CACIB and the title of Vilnius Cup Winner. Aida was once again placed 4th best female under Ychai Barak from Israel, Moriz won his class but wasn't placed in the best male competition.

Winner show results
Last Saturday was the first ever Helsinki Winner show, and we had four dogs entered, two Akitas and two Cockers. Our day started with the Cocker ring, judged by Mr. Jos de Cuyper from Belgium.
Moriz (Candida's Moody Blues) was placed 4th in the champion class, and Meri (Afterglow Hail Mary) was placed 3rd in the junior class.
We then had a loooong wait until the very end of the day, when Akitas were judged by Mr. Attila Soos from Hungary.
Oki (Candida's October Fest) was placed 2nd best male, and received his last CACIB for his International Champion title!
Lumi (Candida's October Opal) was placed 3rd best female.
On Sunday it was time for the annual Finnish Winner show, with the same four dogs entered. This time the breeds were reversed, and the day started with the Akita ring, judged by Mrs. Maija Mäkinen from Finland.
Oki was once again placed 2nd best male, but Lumi was chosen Best of Breed and gained the Finnish Winner title, along with her very first CACIB!
Right after the Akitas were judged, I had to run into the Cocker ring with shaking hands to have our dogs judged by Mr. Bill Bunce from Great Britain. This time Moriz wasn't placed, and Meri was once again 3rd in the junior class.
Overall I'd say our weekend was pretty amazing, although veeery tiresome. And just when we've recovered from the shows in Helsinki, on Friday we head out to Lithuania with Lumi, Moriz and Meri, to test our luck in two international shows in Vilnius. Wish us luck!
