Puppies 8 weeks

The puppies are now 8 weeks old, and they're all heading out to their new homes this week. So here's pictures of the whole litter one more time!

Puppies 5,5 weeks

Puppies!

Lumi's puppies are here! They were born August 31st, six days before their due date. As we weren't expecting the puppies quite that early, Lumi had the chance to take care of the whelping all on her own, and that she did. All of a sudden six little puppies were in the world.

Unfortunately the smallest little boy, weighing only 178 grams at birth, passed away at three days of age. Apparently his lungs just hadn't developed enough yet. All the rest of the puppies are still going strong and growing, so here's what we got:

Ultrasound

We took Lumi to the vet for her ultrasound today, and here's what we saw:

Lumi is definitely expecting! The vet said there might be 5-7 puppies, but obviously we won't know for sure until they're born. Now just one more month...

Litter plans

Lumi (Candida's October Opal) has been bred to Kuro (Homaremon Go Yamato Sakuragaokasou), and we're hoping for a healthy litter of Akita puppies in early September. You can find the pedigree, and information on our other litter plans on our website. We'll have an ultrasound done in a few weeks to find out for sure if she's pregnant. We'll keep you posted!
